Jast Collum, Executive DirectorAs the founder and executive director of Freedom Soundworks, I am a passionate advocate for music and musicians. I was raised in a home where music was ever present. At the age of 7 guitar became a part of my life and I have been creating music ever since.
After being in bands for several years, my band DIESEL decided to get a proper recording produced. With my very fist step through the studio doors I was taken in by the glorious warm light that is audio recording. The big recording console with all its knobs, faders and buttons....wow! I had to know how this stuff worked. Within a couple years I attended an audio engineering school (ARTI) and was asked to teach there shortly before I graduated. I jumped at the chance to have reign of this facility and taught there for several years. Fast forward 15 years and many productions later. While attending a self development course called the "Landmark Forum" I had an epiphany, let's make it easier for musicians to produce their art. Let's remove the the stress that comes with the "how am I going to finance this recording" question. Quality productions can easily cost thousands of dollars. We offer a platform so that ALL artists get a chance to get their art heard regardless of financial means. After all it would be a shame to miss another "Elvis" or a "Prince" or an "Amy Winehouse" because they couldn't afford to get their music into your ears. Let's create. |
